Mid February update

Happy Monday!

It’s hard to believe we’re already in the middle of February. We’ve been spending lots of time trying not to irritate each other. We’re still a bit skittish about taking our kiddos out too much since the hospital stay, but we did get a few days of pretty weather to run off some energy. We even went to town and picked out Valentine’s presents when it was nice. My son picked out some pretty hydrangeas and a mini rose bush in a ladybug pot for momma. The babies got some candy, a small balloon and they both chose monster trucks. We spent Valentine’s day making sugar cookies and playing together. All in all we had a pretty good day.

I started potty training our son this week. Since we’re basically running to the potty every 20 minutes my daytime project really isn’t being touched but I did make some progress about week and a half ago.

The garden fairies are coming among nicely too, I’m getting close to starting the next little fairy.

We had another round of snow last night and this morning but since we had plans to repot the flower bushes we picked up some supplies to start some cucumber and tomato plants. One of my favorite things about being a mom is showing my kids how to do things like gardening. By showing them mundane tasks and letting them learn how, even when it slows us down is something I always try to do. It isn’t always convenient but it’s worth it when they are so proud of themselves. It’s one of the things I’ve watched my mom do with my niece. She always has to help her nanny in whatever she’s doing. My son didn’t really care for putting the soil in the pots, he had to smell the soil and give it a taste so I think that may have something to do with it. He did enjoy sprinkling the seeds though and watering them was a hit😂. Hopefully in a few weeks we’ll see the little green sprouts.

  1. I really want to start some little flowers that can be planted outside later. But with all of the drama of clearing out our basement, it will have to wait another year. Your crochet project is looking fabulous! I am so jealous. And your Flower Fairy is coming along nicely, too. So sweet.

    1. Ginny, I can understand that. This will be our first Spring in our house and I an very excited to be able to plant some flowers and start some veggies too (we’ve always lived in rental properties). Thank you, I’m very excited with how well they are both turning out and hope I can finish the doily this month!
