Happy February Friends!

It’s hard to believe we’re already 2 months into the New Year and I’m about to have a 4 year old! My hubby’s work is gearing up for its big refueling outage which usually takes about a month and we basically don’t see him the whole time. This year he’s on nights so we really won’t see much of him. When he’s on nights, I don’t sleep well so I use it for crafting purposes instead of angrily staring at my alarm clock ticking the minutes away.

First up, hot of the needles today my sweet Malt blanket for our baby nephew to be (literally cast off 2 hours ago, snapped a picture and took it to be washed and blocked). I try to make all my nieces and nephews on both sides handmade baby blankets and this is the second knitted one I’ve gifted. The pattern is from TinCanKnits and is such a simple easy knit. The yarn is Soft & Shiny by Loops and Threads in Poison Apple. Its a much deeper red than shown here. Please excuse the pull-up in the floor, we have begun potty training and sister loves to deposit the extras throughout the house from time to time.

Next up, I’ve wanted to make my kiddos some mittens for about a year now. I’m not ashamed to say I learned how to knit so I could eventually make our own mittens, hats, scarves and eventually socks! So I found a Mittens 101 book at JoAnn’s, grabbed some Lion’s Brand Basic Stitch Yarn in grey and went for it. This is just the basic K1P1 pattern, literally the very first one in the book! I’m pretty pleased with the result and so is my little guy. He and sister are fighting over them while I make her a pair.

Still working along on the sweet garden fairies, unfortunately my fingers have been cracking this week since we’ve had some illnesses in our house so hand hygiene has been ramped up even more. Thankfully I’ve finally healed mostly that it doesn’t hurt to push my needle through and I’m hoping to see this one finished within the next few weeks. I feel like I’m always saying that but it should be obtainable since I have no other “deadlined” projects currently.

I haven’t gotten any progress on my Rozeta CAL but since I have finished my current knitting projects (minus the mittens for sister) I should be able to dedicate more time to that. I’ve got a few more projects lined up for this outage and will share the details with you next time. We should have a productive crafting month!

  1. Beautiful projects. Crafting is a great way to pass those sleepless hours. I wish I could pull myself out of bed most nights to craft, but I always hope sleep will come soon. You are so close to finishing those cute little fairies!!

    1. Thank you Ginny. It has definitely been a great way to pass the time, and it’s usually a quiet way so I don’t wake up my babies! I’m very excited about finishing them up, it’s been a long time coming. Maybe when its finished spring will show up😊
